Frequently Asked Questions by Wedding Photography Customers

o you offer a Pre-Wedding or Engagement Shoot?
Yes we do! After you have confirmed you booking with us we will invite to a complimentary photo-shoot at our studio. This is a great way for us to get to know each other a little better and certainly helps make things go much more smoothly when the Big Day arrives.
Following the session you will be able to select prints to be framed or made up on canvas for you to purchase. This is a great way to celebrate your engagement and share the memory with your family and friends.
Will you be with us exclusively on our Wedding Day?
Yes. We realise we have a great responsibility in capturing the memories of your special day. We will dedicate ourselves exclusively to your wedding so that we can give you both the best attention possible.
How many photographs will you take on the day?
There is no set rule for the number of photographs taken. Because we only use the highest quality digital cameras we can capture more images than would normally be taken using film. We hope to take around four or five hundred shots in order to offer you the widest choice of images for you to select for inclusion in your album.
Quality is important to you; we believe the choice of high resolution digital cameras means we capture your wedding day perfectly and enables us to deliver the same quality in our albums, prints and canvases.
We want to spend as much time as we can with our guests, how long will the photography take?
The majority of your pictures will be taken during the day to reflect the story of your Wedding as it unfolds. Of course there are usually the formal group shots which need to be taken, typically after the ceremony itself.
These normally take around twenty minutes to complete and we are always happy to have a short break beforehand to enable your guest to greet you and for you to have a celebratory drink. Following the group shots I will work with you exclusively for a further twenty minutes or so to capture some images of the happy couple together.
Nonetheless this can be a somewhat boring hour for your guests who may need something to keep them entertained. This is why our Premium Wedding package includes up to 90 minutes of magical entertainment by Marc Lemezma ~ The Wedding Magician or one of his team of top-drawer magicians.

How long do you stay on the day?
There are no fixed rules for how long we stay on the day as this is determined by many factors such as your choice of package, the order of events, number of guests and occasionally unforeseen circumstances. We can stay until the first dance for a small additional cost and hot meal provided. In the event we do stay for the first dance, we would normally take our final photographs of the First Dance at around 8:00 PM and then say our farewell at around 8:30.
How do you survive on your feet for so long?
We are only human and need feeding and watering occasionally. We do request that you make arrangements with your venue to provide us with drinks and a hot meal during our stay with you.
If we book with Portland Studios who turns up on our wedding day?
What you see is what you get! It is essential that you know what you are getting and it is our guarantee to you that, barring emergencies, if you make you booking with us it will be us who photograph your big day.
What happens if you cannot attend?
In my 20 years as a professional photographer this has never happened, but of course it is a possibility and a valid concern for you.
You will be assured to know that we do operate a back-up system work with a network of photographers who match each other in style and quality. Thus if for some unforeseen reason we could not attend we will endeavour to arrange for one of my colleagues to attend.
How so we go about putting our album together?
Once you have returned from your honeymoon we will invite you to our studio during a weekday afternoon or evening. Here I will present to you a slide-show of your big day accompanied by suitable music. This is a great chance to relive the ambience and memories of your wedding day. We will then assist you in compiling the pictures for inclusion in your chosen album.
How many pictures can we have in our album?
There is no limit to the number of pictures you can select for your album. You will have chosen a package at the time of booking with a certain number included. We do not limit your choice of images to this number if you should decide to spend a little more and have a few more in your album.
Typically most album packages include 80 images, however, most couples choose between 180- 220 pictures in their final choice. Additional images above the original package are charged at £20 per image this includes the image, artwork, and additional printing and binding costs.
Can we order additional Albums?
Yes you can. Many couple decide to buy more albums, perhaps for their parents or special friends. These do not need to be of the same type of size as your main album. We aim to be completely flexible so you can purchase whatever you wish.
How long will it take for our order album to arrive?
Our albums are made exclusively for each client with each print being thoroughly scrutinised at every stage of the process to ensure quality is maintained. Once we have agreed on the content of your album it will be delivered to us typically after 30 working days.
I will then invite you to the studio to look through the album and take it home.
If you cannot make it to the studio I can arrange for the album to be sent to you by courier for a cost of around £20 within the UK.
Can we order prints on canvas or in frames?
Yes! We can print any picture you wish onto canvas. These make an excellent show piece for your home and a fantastic gift for your Parents and other special friends. Canvas prints start from around £149.
We also have a wide range of framing options available with framed prints starting at around £99.
What would happen if our album gets lost or damaged or we want more prints in the future?
Because we use digital technology we can store your images for many years without any loss to their quality or sharpness.
We can therefore provide additional prints in the future or replace your album should it become damaged. We do, of course, recommend that you make sure your album is insured either within your home contents policy or separately.
How do we pay you?
Payments can be made by cash cheque, visa-debit, or maestro. Your guests may order online using any major credit card.
Can we book you?
Yes you can. Your booking is secured by a non returnable booking fee of £195 which must be sent along with your completed and signed booking form. The balance is payable in full 7 days before your wedding.
If you decide to purchase additional prints for your album, framed prints, canvases or albums for your Parents the full cost is payable at the time of order.
